Polk Audio announced earlier this week that it has begun shipping its tabletop HD Radio unit called the iSonic Entertainment System. The iSonic is what you would call loaded with all the bells and whistles. It has the HD Radio tuner, a CD/DVD player and XM Satellite Radio, all in one compact package. It also has a headphone jack, 30 radio presets, a wireless remote control and one hefty price tage. Try $599. Polk has said that its first units will go to broadcasters and to Tweeter Home Entertainment stores. It further said that supplies are expected to be tight for the next 60 days but that the company expects to be able to ramp up production enough to meet the demand this holiday season. We welcome the introduction of a second tabletop radio but certainly wish it were more affordable.
