XM Seeks Patent To Transmit To HD Radio June 21, 2006 09:28 |
Here's an interesting tidbit. XM Satellite radio has applied for a ptent to broadcast its signal into new HD Radios. I guess that what this means is that instead of XM using the FM band to receive signals in a car, that using the new HD Radio frequencies would allow its signal to be preserved as a higher-quality digital signal as it is intended, instead of in analog.
Who would have guessed that satellite radio would decide that broadcasting to HD Radios is a really good idea?
Go figure.

My contact at Radiosophy tells me the company is on schedule to beging shipping its MultiStream HD tabletop radio in July.
