Clear Channel has announced it will syndicate an eclectic mix of 75 channels created expressly for HD Radio. These channels will be offered to other broadcasters, web sites, satellite and other digital platforms. (Read More)

Last week's NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) conference in Las Vegas saw nearly 20 different exhibitors exhibiting HD Radio Products. Many of these were broadcasting-oriented products such as HD Radio AM, FM and AM/FM monitors, and IBOC transmitters. But there were consumer products from a wide range of manufacturers, including: Audio Design Associates, Alpine, Boston Acoustics, DaySequerra, ECLIPSE by Fujitsu Ten, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic, Rotel, Sanyo and Yamaha - with many more under development. One really neat demonstration was BE (Broadcasting Electronics) partnering with Dolby to demonstrate surround sound for HD Radio, a development which could be way cool for HD Radio listeners. Eight Las Vegas radio stations broadcast in HD Radio technology throughout the Conference. And retailers such as Tweeter (in Las Vegas: Boca Park Shopping Center, W. Charleston Blvd) sold HD Radio receivers the week of the show. Other HD Radio retail partners included ABC Warehouse and Crutchfield. Robert Struble, President and CEO, iBiquity Digital, the developer and main mover behind HD Radio was quoted as saying, "With more than 760 AM and FM stations now broadcasting in digital HD Radio, exciting new radios on the horizon, and the HD Digital Radio Alliance making great inroads with consumers, HD Radio is rapidly reshaping radio. Now, all we need is for some of the promised HD Radio receivers to actually show up on retailers' shelves. (Go to URL)
